'It Was Just An Accident' Is Inspired By Jafar Panahi's Real Life Incident
As per BBC's report, Jafar Panahi spent 7 months in jail for a 6-year sentence by the Iranian government. He was jailed for allegedly supporting anti-government protests. Summing up his experience, his film 'It Was Just An Accident' tells the story of 5 Iranians who are confronted with a man who tortured them when in jail. His characters were inspired by the people Jafar met in jail. He said, "I was on my own in a tiny cell and they would take me out blindfolded to a place where I would sit in front of a wall and hear this voice at my back. It was the voice of the man who would question me, sometimes for two hours, sometimes for eight hours."
