Los Angeles Wildfire Conspiracy Theories: What Caused The Fire? Are They Preparing For 'SmartLA'?

Los Angeles Wildfire Conspiracy Theories: Los Angeles is facing devastating wildfires, with several massive blazes erupting since Tuesday. As of Saturday's BBC report, the fires have tragically claimed at least 11 lives, and hundreds of buildings have been destroyed. By Friday, authorities had issued evacuation orders for 153,000 people, with an additional 166,000 under warning. Many residents are fleeing the city in search of safety. Several well-known figures, including Bill Crystal, Mel Gibson, Jeff Bridges, Paris Hilton, and Mandy Moore, are among those who have lost their homes. The city is also grappling with significant challenges related to its water supply, further raising concerns and prompting questions about the true cause of the fires.
While reports indicate that Santa Ana winds are responsible for sparking the wildfires, many are questioning whether that is the full story. A number of conspiracy theories have emerged online, adding to the confusion. Let's explore some of these theories and the ongoing efforts to understand and address the crisis.
Los Angeles Wildfire Conspiracy Theories
There are theories taking rounds on the internet about whether the Los Angeles fire was deliberately started and whether the fire hydrants deliberately went out of water. Is Los Angeles preparing itself for "SmartLA 2028"? A user took to X to explain his theory saying, "Conspiracy theories? As of 2019, this was the plan to have in place by 2028. It is directly off the Los Angeles Government site and developers have already started rezoning many of the areas presently on fire. This is her district, remember Pelosi and her family became rich on Real Estate Deals."
Many have raised concerns about why several individuals had their fire insurance coverage dropped just three months before the wildfires began. Additionally, there have been reports suggesting that electrical wires from the power grid may have contributed to the outbreak of the fires. Another striking observation is the sight of entire houses reduced to ashes, while nearby trees remain untouched. These unusual circumstances have sparked further speculation and fueled questions surrounding the true cause of the devastation.
A user tweeted on X, "Conspiracy Theories R Us. I just rec'd a press release that reminded me the 2028 Olympics takes place in Los Angeles. Did the government NEED that land cleared? I mean, mass fire ins. policies canceled a cpl weeks before a catastrophe? Discuss."
What Actually Caused Fire In Los Angeles?
According to the reports, Santa Ana winds created the perfect environment for the Los Angeles wildfire. Los Angeles reportedly only received 0.16 inches of rain since October. To note, Santa Ana winds flow from east to west across the deserts. Nathan Hochman, LA District Attorney, said in a statement, "If it is determined that there is a man-made and intentional setting of any of the fires involved in this situation, the people who committed this arson will be arrested, they will be prosecuted and they will be punished to the full extent of the law."
