Oscars 2025: Harrison Ford Not To Present Oscars This Year? Here's The Truth

News has recently come out that one of the presenters for the Oscars this year, celebrated and beloved actor Harrison Ford will not be attending the event due to being diagnosed with shingles. Because of the pain symptoms of the disease, Ford may not be able to attend the event or any future events for the next week or more. Despite that, sources have claimed that Ford is "doing okay" and is on a path to recovery.
Harrison Ford was diagnosed with shingles just this Friday. Prior to this, he made an appearance at the Screen Actor's Guild Awards where he was nominated for "Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series" for his role in the show 'Shrinking'. The actor also recently finished working on the film 'Captain America: Brave New World' and is currently still working on the series '1923', a 'Yellowstone' spin-off series and a sequel to '1883'. The second season of the series kicked off on February 23, with the second episode soon to come on March 2.
Still, it's hard to say how much Harrison Ford will be able to do in his current condition, as shingles can have some very painful symptoms. According to the Cleveland Clinic, shingles can cause fever, chills, headache, feeling tired, sensitivity to light, stomach upset, and a host of other symptoms as well. The disease is caused by the chickenpox virus that stays in your body when you are a kid, activating again when you are an adult. Individuals that are at a greater risk of getting shingles are those with a compromised immune system, those who are over the age of 50, those who are ill, those who have experienced some trauma, and those under a lot of stress.
Harrison Ford is already 82 years old, and that coupled with the large amount of physical and mental stress that comes with his career and working on physically draining series like '1923' may have caused him to acquire shingles. Still, hopefully the actor will make a full recovery soon.
