Oscars 2025: James Bond Gets Musical Tribute, Medley Sung By BLACKPINK's Lisa, Doja Cat, And Raye

The Oscars this year have been very eventful, and have had many moments that fans and industry professionals alike will hold dear in their memories. There was one moment, though, during the awards event which was less about creating memories and more about honouring the memory of a film franchise that has stayed with everyone for many decades at this point.
A medley of some of the most popular James Bond soundtracks was sung by popular artists Lisa from the K-Pop band BLACKPINK, Doja Cat, and Raye. It was Halle Berry and Margaret Qualley who gave an introduction to the performance, and a big heartfelt thank you to the many talents behind the James Bond franchise. Lisa sang a portion of 'Live And Let Die', before giving the reins to Doja cat who sang 'Diamonds Are Forever'. The performance was capped off by Raye who sang her own beautiful rendition of 'Skyfall'.
This tribute to James Bond isn't just coming out of nowhere, though, as a recent decision by the longtime owners of the James Bond I.P. has left the entire world stunned. Siblings Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli recently sold their shares of their late father's company EON, which was what owned the James Bond franchise since its first cinematic release all the way back in 1962. The I.P. was sold to Amazon, leaving the world baffled as to why the two would sell such a profitable I.P. when they could've just let their children or other extended family inherit it.
Still, that decision hasn't stopped people from celebrating the franchise for everything that it's done for the film industry over the years. James Bond films may look and feel very different in the near future, which may be why the Oscars decided to give one final tribute to the franchise and its creators with the beautifully sung medley by Lisa, Doja Cat, and Raye.
