Sentry’s Arrival in Thunderbolts* Sets Up High Stakes For Avengers: Doomsday

With Marvel Studios gearing up for the release of Thunderbolts*, director Jake Schreier has dropped key hints about how this unconventional antihero ensemble will play a pivotal role in shaping the MCU's next major crossover event, Avengers: Doomsday. At the heart of this connection? The arrival of the Sentry-and the shadowy threat of his dark counterpart, the Void.

During global interviews, Schreier acknowledged the Sentry's immense power, coyly teasing that the character might have a "level of power" capable of shifting the trajectory of the MCU. While Schreier isn't helming Doomsday himself, he hinted that Thunderbolts* will help lay the groundwork for what's to come.

The Sentry, played by Lewis Pullman, is one of Marvel's most complex and volatile characters. As a superhero with godlike strength, his darker persona-the Void-represents an equally unstoppable force of destruction. Recent trailers and TV spots have already given fans a glimpse of the Void's terrifying abilities, setting up what looks like a chaotic confrontation between him and the Thunderbolts team.

Pullman will return as Bob Reynolds/Sentry in Avengers: Doomsday, but the events of Thunderbolts* will be the audience's first true introduction to the character. Alongside The Fantastic Four: First Steps, this film acts as a direct prelude to the multiversal war on the horizon, which is rumored to involve Doctor Doom himself.

The Thunderbolts lineup includes Florence Pugh (Yelena Belova), Sebastian Stan (Bucky Barnes), David Harbour (Red Guardian), Wyatt Russell (U.S. Agent), Hannah John-Kamen (Ghost), Olga Kurylenko (Taskmaster), Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Valentina Allegra de Fontaine), and Lewis Pullman. The film explores how this ragtag group of antiheroes are forced into a deadly mission that may offer them a shot at redemption-or complete annihilation.
