THE WHEEL OF TIME EPISODE 4 RECAP AND SPOILERS
Under the scorching Aiel sun, Rand trained relentlessly with Lan, his mind clouded with thoughts of belonging and family. Meanwhile, Moiraine and Egwene sought guidance from the Wise Ones, only to discover that their arrival in the Aiel Waste had not been foreseen. Rand's survival in Rhuidean was crucial-without it, the Aiel faced extinction.
As they prepared for their journey, Aviendha warned Rand and Lan against using swords among the Aiel. When Lan playfully challenged her to a fight, he easily outmatched her, reinforcing that she still had much to learn. However, the Wise Ones intervened, reminding Aviendha of her destiny-not as a warrior, but as one of them.
Approaching Rhuidean, Rand learned that all clan chiefs must undergo a trial inside the city, though many never returned. As they encountered the rival Shaido Clan, Rand boldly requested entry, which the Wise Ones granted-but only to him. Surprisingly, Moiraine was also permitted to enter, where she would face visions of her possible futures.
Inside Rhuidean, an eerie silence filled the ruined city. Moiraine was drawn to the ancient Tree of Life, recounting its tragic history and its connection to war. Meanwhile, Rand's journey took a sudden turn when he was swept into a powerful vision-finding himself on a battlefield, mourning a lost love and an unborn child. As the visions continued, he relived the trials of past clan chiefs, witnessing the brutal choices that defined the Aiel as "oath-breakers."
Elsewhere, Moiraine retrieved a glowing orb from the Tree of Life before stepping into the three rings. To her surprise, Aviendha followed suit. As Moiraine floated midair, she glimpsed multiple versions of her future-becoming the Aes Sedai Mother, killing Rand in the great hall, or devoting herself entirely to the Dragon Reborn.
With their destinies unfolding before them, Rand and Moiraine had no choice but to move forward-toward the truth, toward sacrifice, and toward an uncertain fate.
THE WHEEL OF TIME 3 EPISODE 4 ENDING EXPLAINED: ALL ABOUT THE CLIMAX SCENE
As Rand's trial in Rhuidean neared its end, he encountered a vision of Mierin, also known as Lanfear. In this vision, they discussed something so powerful that they could see beyond reality itself. But as Rand stepped away from the sphere, it shattered, and cracks formed in the sky, snapping him back to the present. The moment he returned, a dragon tattoo appeared on both his arms-marking him as the chosen one.
Outside, he met Aviendha and finally understood why she had warned him against using a sword. Despite her urging him to leave, he refused, determined to wait for Moiraine. Inside the city, Moiraine was still trapped in visions of her future-one particularly dark one showed her surrounded by Egwene, Elayne, Perrin, Nynaeve, and Lanfear, all dressed in black. With a single motion, Lanfear slit her throat. Every vision that followed ended the same way-with Lanfear killing her.
At last, the visions vanished, and both Rand and Moiraine emerged from Rhuidean, forever changed by what they had seen.
