Prime Video has unveiled the teaser trailer for its upcoming mystery thriller series, "We Were Liars," set to premiere on June 18, 2025. This series, rooted in the popular novel by E. Lockhart, will be accessible exclusively on Prime Video, reaching audiences in over 240 countries and territories globally. The story unfolds on a private New England island, owned by the Sinclair family, who epitomize American royalty with their astonishing beauty, substantial wealth, and tight familial ties.
The narrative of "We Were Liars" centers around Cadence Sinclair Eastman and her close group of friends, known collectively as the Liars. Their summers are filled with adventures on her grandfather's secluded island. However, the plot thickens following a baffling accident that alters Cadence's life drastically, casting shadows of doubt and secrecy over everyone, including the Liars themselves.
In the series, Emily Alyn Lind portrays Cadence Sinclair Eastman, with Shubham Maheshwari as Gat Patil, Esther McGregor as Mirren Sinclair Sheffield, and Joseph Zada taking on the role of Johnny Sinclair Dennis. The ensemble is rounded out by Caitlin FitzGerald as Penny Sinclair, Mamie Gummer as Carrie Sinclair, Candice King as Bess Sinclair, Rahul Kohli as Ed Patil, and David Morse as Harris Sinclair.
The show boasts an impressive creative team led by co-showrunners Julie Plec, known for her work on "The Vampire Diaries" and "Legacies," and Carina Adly MacKenzie, with credits including "Roswell, New Mexico" and "The Originals." They are joined by executive producers Emily Cummins, Brett Matthews, Pascal Verschooris, and the novel's author, E. Lockhart. The production has the backing of Universal Television, a branch of Universal Studio Group, and Amazon MGM Studios, while the novel was published by Delacorte Press, under Random House Children's Books.
