Binita Chetry, a nine-year-old from Assam, has achieved remarkable success by securing the second runner-up position in 'Britain's Got Talent'. Her journey from a small village in Karbi Anglong to this global stage is inspiring.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma praised her achievement, stating, "Dancing her way to glory. Many congratulations to our very own #BinitaChetry on securing the 3rd spot at #BGTFinal."

In the competition's finale held on Saturday night, Binita finished third. British magician Harry Moulding claimed victory, while LED dance group 'The Blackouts' secured second place. Binita expressed gratitude to her supporters and social media followers through a video on BGT's official platforms. She thanked viewers from the United Kingdom for their votes and blessings.

Support and Encouragement

Binita acknowledged the encouragement she received from India, Nepal, Bhutan, and other Asian countries. This support gave her strength to perform on a global platform. She also expressed gratitude towards Chief Minister Sarma for his support and blessings. "I hope this message reaches him, and I get the opportunity to meet him," she said.

The young dancer also recognised the assistance provided by Tuliram Ronghang, Chief Executive Member of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), who contributed Rs 5 lakh for her finale preparations. Local MLA and deputy speaker of Assam Legislative Assembly Numal Momin also supported her journey.

Family Support and Training

Hailing from Talbalijan village near Bokajan, Binita's father, Amar Chetry, runs a small broiler chicken farm. He is actively involved in community affairs and recognised his daughter's talent early on. To nurture her skills, he arranged for dance training first in Guwahati and then in Jaipur under the guidance of her aunt Amrita Devi and choreographer Hardik Rawat.

Nanda Kirati Dewan, coordinator of the BGT Binita Chetry Support Group, highlighted that Binita's intricate dance routines included physically demanding moves like backflips. These performances consistently impressed judges and audiences throughout her journey in BGT.

Binita's family claims she is the first contestant from India to reach the final stage of 'Britain's Got Talent'. Her performances have captivated audiences from both sides of the globe. As Chief Minister Sarma noted, "Her performances have mesmerised audiences from the Brahmaputra to the Thames and made us all proud."
