New WWE United States Champion Crowned On SmackDown- Who Is He?

WWE SmackDown featured a United States title change, a festive street fight, and fresh January match announcements. It's time to send congratulatory messages to Carmelo Hayes as he is the new WWE United States champion. He defeated Ilja Dragunov to win the title while Joe Hendry beat The Miz in a Miracle On 34th Street Fight.

"The Mad Dragon" Ilja Dragunov first told the crowd that the United States Championship Open Challenge was closed. However, he still agreed to give Carmelo Hayes a rematch. Hayes then pinned Dragunov to win the WWE United States Championship, earning his first title on the main roster.

SmackDown also set several key WWE matches for early 2025. Damian Priest vs. Aleister Black was confirmed for the upcoming episode. Jade Cargill will defend the the WWE Women's Championship against Michin. A multi-person number one contender's match for women's tag team championship will take place on SmackDown's first January episode. Charlotte-Alexa Bliss, Rhea Ripley-Iyo Sky, Nia Jax-Lash Legend have been confirmed for the match.

WWE SmackDown Spotlight Women's Division

Backstage segment featured WWE Women's Champion Jade Cargill, who called out Michin directly. Michin continued to verbally attack Jade as B-Fab stood behind. Charlotte Flair met Alexa Bliss in a backstage segment that also featured multiple women's tag teams.

Charlotte Flair defeated Lash Legend, handing her the first loss in singles career since her debut on Smackdown. Giulia teamed with Kiana James to beat WWE Women's United States and AAA Mixed Tag Team Champion Chelsea Green and Alba Fyre.
