Young Sherlock Release Date: The Game is Afoot! Prime Video Releases First-Look Images For The Show - DEETS

Prime Video has unveiled first-look images from Young Sherlock, a new series led by Hero Fiennes Tiffin as a teenage Sherlock Holmes. The show explores how the future detective begins, presenting a lively mix of mystery, action and dark humour. Young Sherlock is set to arrive on Prime Video in 2026, streaming in more than 240 countries and territories.

The story follows Sherlock Holmes as a troubled young man whose life is spiralling. Still unpolished and reckless, Sherlock becomes entangled in a murder investigation that risks prison and scandal. This first case reveals a far-reaching conspiracy with international links. Events play out in 1870s Oxford and locations overseas, showing the chaos and curiosity that shape the character later known on Baker Street.

Young Sherlock series on Prime Video

Young Sherlock keeps the sharp wit and stylish energy familiar from Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes films. Guy Ritchie directs several episodes and also serves as executive producer. Matthew Parkhill is showrunner, writer and executive producer, guiding the overall creative vision. Additional executive producers include Dhana Gilbert, Marc Resteghini, Simon Maxwell, Ivan Atkinson, Simon Kelton and Colin Wilson, with Harriet Creelman and Steve Thompson as co-executive producers. Motive Pictures manages the physical production.

The ensemble for Young Sherlock features Dónal Finn from The Wheel of Time and Zine Tseng from 3 Body Problem. Joseph Fiennes, known for The Handmaid's Tale, joins alongside Natascha McElhone from Halo and Max Irons from Condor. Colin Firth, remembered for The King's Speech, also appears. Together with Hero Fiennes Tiffin, the cast supports a version of Sherlock Holmes at the very start of a dangerous life.

As Young Sherlock moves towards release, the series aims to appeal to long-time Sherlock Holmes readers and newer audiences. The focus on a messy, inexperienced teenager offers a different view of the character while keeping familiar detective elements. With its 1870s setting, global plot and large creative team, the production adds another major franchise to Prime Video’s international slate.
