Shell OTT Release Date, Platform India: Where To Stream Kate Hudson & Elisabeth Moss' Film? Lionsgate Play Is
Shell OTT release date India: The American black comedy-body horror film Shell is set to stream in India on Lionsgate Play from 16 January, bringing viewers a tense story of beauty, ambition, and control. Led by Kate Hudson and Elisabeth Moss, and directed by Max Minghella, the film explores how a shiny wellness empire hides disturbing power games beneath its perfect surface.

The story centres on Samantha Lake, played by Elisabeth Moss, a former Hollywood actor who sees fame and relevance slipping away in an industry focused on youth. Samantha turns to Shell, a high-end wellness brand that promises transformation, strict structure, and complete guidance. There, Samantha meets Zoe Shannon, portrayed by Kate Hudson, the strong-willed and magnetic founder who sells reinvention with absolute authority.
Shell Lionsgate Play release date in India
Shell uses this elite wellness setting to question industries that profit from insecurity and the demand to appear flawless at any age. As Samantha follows Shell's strict regimen, the supposed path to empowerment begins to feel more like a trap. The lines between support and manipulation blur, and Samantha discovers that the cost of staying visible may be far higher than expected.
Lionsgate Play positions Shell within a line-up of bold, international stories aimed at viewers looking for sharp, socially aware narratives. The film mixes psychological unease with dark humour rather than pure spectacle, allowing atmosphere and character choices to drive the tension. Through this blend, Shell offers a pointed look at perfectionism and the quiet compromises people accept to keep their place.

Speaking about shaping Zoe and finding the right approach, Kate Hudson described how the film's style influenced performance choices. Kate said in a statement, "The camp read pretty clear in the script because it's so wild, but it was also about what it was going to look and feel like. How big is it? How camp is it? How far are we going? Max was very clear on his tone, and I knew going in that I was going to build this character by really trusting him and trusting how far I could push Zoe."
Kate also discussed working opposite Elisabeth Moss and how their on-screen dynamic supported the film's distinctive style. Talking about Elisabeth Moss, Kate said, "Because the film is so tone-specific, a lot of what we were all doing was leaning into Max. There were moments where Lizzie and I would look at each other and be like, 'Is this crazy? Should I do this? Should you do that? What are we doing here?' Some of those moments were kind of wild. Lizzie is such a wonderful actress and such a pro. She has an amazing vulnerability, and obviously my character preys on the vulnerable, so that was a very easy thing to achieve because she gave me so much of herself. And, I just got to be a sociopath and take from her. She was wonderful, and it was so much fun working with her."
