The Mummy X Review

Taking to the micro-blogging site Twitter, a user wrote, "Really enjoyed @curleecronin #TheMummy @blumhouse Really got under my skin and kept me on the edge of my seat! I truly loved what they did with the story! Cheers to all involved! Natalie Grace was really creepy as Katie!". Another user wrote, "What if Mummy meets Evil dead is the core of this film. The mystery and investigation parts works to a fair extent, not completely out of the box but its not boring too. Imo, what really makes this film engaging and interesting in many places is the body horror. The background score and cinematography with a handful of split diopter shots set the tone and atmosphere perfectly. As expected the film is filled with a disturbing amount of utterly nasty, gross-out and haunting moments that I had to close my eyes at few places. Terrific performance by everyone especially the one girl who acted as Katie. What disappointed me at places and prevented this film from becoming great or standout from other films in this genre is the regular cliches and predictability. Definitely, not your regular Mummy film...a unique one in this franchise for sure. Some choices here and there could have been definitely better, the cuts seem abrupt at places but it still entertains and kept me in the edge of the seat for most part thanks to the gore and nasty moments. Overall, it might surely satisfy fans of this genre and might be a decent watch for others ig. Liked it!".

Meanwhile, talking about the Mummy's look in the movie, Lee Cronin told Bloody Disgusting, "I think one of the things myself and producer James Wan talked about early on was that, first of all, it had to be practical. We're both big fans of that, and that we would create a look and a silhouette and a presentation of something that was different to reflect that the movie is a very different kind of Mummy story. Then I always try to find the answers within the story as well because it's a monster that we take out of a box, but it's not all the way there yet. It's still warming up, it's still stretching its legs".
