Did Oliver Tree Predict His Own Death? When Singer Hallucinated His Funeral
Known for hit tracks including Alien Boy, Hurt, Life Goes On, and Cowboys Don't Cry, Oliver Tree had previously spoken candidly about one of the darkest chapters of his life - his battle with drug addiction.
Following reports of his death, an old interview clip shared by Dose of Society has begun circulating widely online. In the video, Tree reflected on a life-changing tragedy: the death of his cousin Wayne from spinal meningitis at a young age.
According to the singer, losing his cousin forced him to confront the fragility of life. Determined to experience everything before it was too late, he eventually spiraled into drug use and later became involved in selling drugs, which led to him being thrown out of his home.
What has particularly caught fans' attention, however, is his recollection of a powerful LSD-induced hallucination in which he believed he witnessed his own funeral.
Recalling the experience, Tree said:
"When I was 13, my cousin Wayne had spiral meningitis. Within a week, the patient became brain-dead and died. After that moment, I was like I can die at any time, so I wanted to take every moment and try everything, which ultimately led to my becoming a drug addict. I started selling drugs and got kicked out of my home. I had an LSD trip where I actually watched my own funeral, and I had what's actually called rebirth. I had died, and I woke up the next day and realised I was still alive."
Tree further explained that only a few days after that experience, he performed at a major concert, an opportunity he credited with helping him change the course of his life. Over the years, the singer managed to overcome his addiction struggles, staying away from hard drugs and later giving up alcohol as well.
With the interview resurfacing in the wake of the reported helicopter crash, many fans have been revisiting his words, viewing them through a deeply emotional lens.
Oliver Tree Family & Girlfriend
Oliver Tree was never married and did not have a wife. Over the years, the singer kept much of his personal life out of the spotlight, though his romantic relationships occasionally made headlines. One of his most talked-about relationships was with fellow singer Melanie Martinez. The pair dated for several years before parting ways in 2021.
During an appearance on a podcast hosted by Logan Paul, Tree joked about having a long and complicated dating history, revealing that he had been involved in multiple relationships throughout his life.
Born Oliver Tree Nickell on June 29, 1993, in Santa Cruz, the musician was the son of Jesse Louis Nickell III and Christine Marie Begin. Despite his fame, he generally kept details about his family private.
In an interview conducted shortly before his reported death, Tree made a surprising revelation about his estate. Rather than leaving his wealth to family members, the singer said he intended for his fortune to be directed toward supporting artists and creative talent after his passing.
