Passenger Early Review Critics Call A Trip To Remember

Film critic Elena Lazic set the tone for appreciation, calling it a "Stylish, Satisfying Thrill-Ride" and commending Øvredal's assured direction. Frank Scheck noted how deftly the film translates the discomfort of a long drive into sustained dread, writing, "As anyone who's been on one knows, lengthy road trips can be a trying experience. The new horror film from director André Øvredal runs only 94 minutes, but it captures the feeling all too well."

Allison Foreman highlighted the film's smart use of contemporary driving technology as a scare mechanic, calling it one of its most original touches.

Matt Gatsby also showered the film with praise, saying that it stands out in an already impressive year for original horror films. "In a strong year for original horror, Passenger is a trip to remember," he wrote.

Peter Sobczynski added that the film punches well above its release profile, describing it as "a fairly solid bit of genre craftwork that is a lot more impressive than its desultory release might suggest."

With critics consistently citing its suspense, originality, and atmospheric craft, Passenger is shaping up to be one of the more interesting horror releases of 2026.

The film follows a young couple who witness a gruesome highway accident, only to discover they didn't leave the crash scene alone. A demonic entity called the Passenger pursues them relentlessly, turning their van life adventure into a living nightmare.

Directed by André Øvredal, the film features Jacob Scipio, Lou Llobell, and Melissa Leo. Paramount Pictures will be releasing Passenger in Indian Cinemas on 29th May 2026.
