Project Hail Mary: Indian-Origin Producer Aditya Sood Moved By India's Overwhelming Response
The Indian-origin producer of the Ryan Gosling-starrer Project Hail Mary, a fact largely unknown to domestic audiences, found himself experiencing the film in India for the first time - not a formal premiere but inside a packed IMAX theatre. What unfolded that Monday evening turned into something far more personal than he had anticipated.

Before the screening, Sood addressed the audience, offering a brief introduction to the film - a gesture that was met with immediate warmth and applause. Reflecting on the experience, he shared, "It was incredible to experience the movie with the audience out here."
What struck him most was the palpable energy in the room - a full house on a weekday, with an audience that was audibly engaged and visibly invested. The demand to watch the film in premium formats only amplified the moment. "Amazing," he added, summing up the response.
The moment carried deeper resonance for Sood, who grew up immersed in Indian culture despite living abroad - watching Bollywood films on VHS tapes as a child, and now returning as a global producer to see Indian audiences embrace his work. The journey, by his own reckoning, had come full circle.
Echoing co-star Ryan Gosling's conviction about the power of theatrical cinema, Sood emphasized that the onus is on filmmakers to earn that audience. He also spoke about the privilege of working with Gosling, describing him as an actor whose near-constant screen presence gives the film a singular energy.
Presented by Amazon MGM Studios and distributed by Sony Pictures Releasing International, the film is currently playing in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu across IMAX®️ and other premium large formats.
