The report noted that audiences who watched the film over its opening weekend expected mature content due to the certification but did not find content typically associated with an 'A' rating.

The report further notes that the film has received more lenient classifications across multiple international markets. In countries such as Switzerland, Finland, Denmark and Spain, children as young as six or seven are permitted to watch the film. Ireland allows viewers aged eight and above, while Belgium and the Netherlands have set the minimum age at nine. Turkey has assigned a 10A rating. In Brazil, Hungary, Malta, the United Kingdom, Oman, Poland, Portugal, South Africa, South Korea and Ukraine, the film carries a 12 rating. In Argentina, Bahrain, Indonesia, Singapore, the United States and the United Arab Emirates, viewers under 13 can watch it with parental guidance.

Lebanon and Vietnam have assigned PG13 and T13 ratings, restricting entry for those under 13. Meanwhile, Australia and Saudi Arabia have given it M and PG15 ratings respectively, allowing younger audiences if accompanied by adults, while Kuwait and Russia have set stricter limits at 15 and 16. In Egypt, Hong Kong and the Philippines, the film falls under parental guidance categories, and in several countries including France, Germany, Italy, Norway, Sweden and Thailand, among others, it is accessible without age restrictions.

The film, directed by David Frankel and written by Aline Brosh McKenna, brings back the central cast including Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci, while introducing new actors such as Justin Theroux, Lucy Liu, Simone Ashley, and Kenneth Branagh. Like its predecessor, the sequel is positioned as a comedy drama set in the world of fashion media.

La La Land Rating Recalled Amid Current Certification Disparity

The situation has also invited comparisons with the certification of La La Land, which had similarly received an 'A' rating in India despite being widely considered suitable for general audiences in several other countries.
