Yes Man Review

If you decided to say 'Yes' to everything in life, would that make you a better person and enhance your life? Not exactly, but in the movie Yes Man, you could let others have a good laugh!

Following the lines of Liar Liar, Jim Carrey's latest comic flick is about a dreadfully morose guy who is inspired by a self-help guru to say 'Yes' to everything and see how it transforms his dull life into something wild and unpredictable. But like we said before, though it doesn't exactly make him eternally blissful, at least it helps him be more positive in life. Obviously, the comedy arises or is expected to arise from those instances where Jim should have actually said 'No!' but instead, thanks to his new learning, goes ahead and says 'Yes'. The outcome is painful in some cases but always manages to tickle a certain percentage of the audience.

If you go expecting the usual from Jim Carrey funny faces, ridiculously silly sequences, and bizarre sounds then you won't be disappointed. But if you expect something different, probably the subtle humour of The Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind or the innovative touch of The Truman Show or the insanity of The Mask, you are in for disappointment. Liar Liar has a philosophical side to it. But Yes Man is just free-flowing chuckle-worthy humour, without telling you in the end whether the 'Yes' theory works. Instead, we are just reminded that it's not OK to say Yes, when you actually should say No.

Playing Jim Carrey's love interest is Zooey Deschanel. The elfin starlet has hardly any screen time when compared to Jim, but she rocks in her role. Others on the supporting cast such as Bradly Cooper and Rhys Darby, do contribute towards the fun in the film. But it's Jim who rules the roost, so if you've missed his presence, don't miss the movie!
