The Longest Ride Movie Review: For All Nicholas Sparks' Fans!

Rating:
2.5/5

Nicholas Sparks is back and this time with another romantic movie, 'The Longest Ride'. The author behind hit movies like 'The Notebook', 'Dear John' and 'The Best of Me' has a new novel to movie adaptation.

When we saw the trailer of 'The Longest Ride' starring Luke (Scott Eastwood) and college student Sophia (Britt Robertson), we were waiting for the movie to hit the theaters.

It is not strange that after seeing so many romantic classic hits by Nicholas Sparks, we had a lot of expectations from this movie too.

There's a split love story just like we saw in 'The Notebook', but 'The Longest Ride' has two different couples, one from today (Scott Eastwood & Britt Robertson) and one from the past (Jack Huston & Oona Chaplin) who have been separated by time but connected by fate.

'The Longest Ride' is a story about Sophia (Britt Robertson) who meets a cowboy named Luke (Scott Eastwood).

The two hit it off after they meet during his bull ride. However, the couple must get past various problems which includes Luke's risky career which also gets him hospitalised.

In order to be happy together, Luke and Sophia have to overcome such problems as she is afraid of losing him but Luke is determined to stick to his risky and dangerous career.

Meanwhile, Ira Levinson (Alan Alda) gets hurt in a car accident and taken to hospital by Luke and Sophia who witness the accident. The old Ira is comforted by a mirage of his deceased wife who convinces him to stay awake.

He is taken care by Sophia and slowly she gets to know about how Ira sacrificed for love and it is all about time.

Adding more romanticism and sexuality in the American drama film is Hozier's sensuous voice. There is romance, sex, fun, cry and even pain in the movie. However, Scott Eastwood and Britt Robertson's chemistry did not gel well and they failed to show their bonding in the romantic drama.

All in all, if you are a big fan of Nicholas Sparks, then it a good watch but make sure you keep some tissues handy.

The film co-stars actors Jack Huston, Melissa Benoist, and Oona Chaplin and is being directed by George Tillman Jr., who previously helmed such films as "Men of Honor" and "Notorious."
