Shaleen
Talks
About
Laal
lshq
Q:
You
recently
shot
for
a
special
episode
on
Laal
Ishq.
Your
look
on
the
show
resembles
the
get-up
that
Diljit
Dosanjh
had
flaunted
in
the
film
Phillauri.
Tell
us
more
about
it.
A:
I
usually
don't
do
episodic
shows.
One
of
the
reasons
I
did
the
show
was
because
I
liked
the
look
and
the
whole
thought
behind
going
back
in
the
past!
This
guy
travels
through
two
centuries
-
he
goes
to
the
1945
era
and
keeps
coming
back
to
2018
-
and
this
look
is
of
his
past.
Actually,
I
came
to
know
about
this
look
(that
it
resembles
Diljit's
look
from
Phillauri)
the
next
day.
Experience
Of
Doing
Horror
Shows
Q:
You
featured
in
the
opening
episode
of
the
horror
show
Kaun
Hai.
Earlier,
you
had
also
done
a
few
horror
shows
like
Ssshhhh...Phir
Koi
Hai
and
Aahat.
Did
you
experience
any
scary
incident
while
shooting
for
these
shows?
A:
The
last
horror
show
that
I
had
done
was
10
years
back.
The
same
producers
of
Shhh...
Phir
Koi
Hai
produced
Kaun
Hai.
They
are
family
and
wanted
me
to
do
it,
so
I
agreed.
In
contrary
to
my
physique,
I
am
a
scared
guy!
I
neither
watch
nor
work
in
horror
shows.
In
fact,
the
first
time
I
saw
the
girl
who
played
‘bhoot'
in
Kaun
Hai,
I
just
could
not
see
her
for
almost
six
hours.
I,
in
fact,
told
her
sorry!
She
was
a
firang
and
the
make-up
on
her
was
scary.
Also,
it
was
the
first
day
and
it
was
very
rude
of
me
to
not
to
talk
to
her.
I
even
told
her
clearly,
‘Don't
mind,
but
I
am
really
scared
with
those
lenses
and
make-up,
I
can't
look
at
you.'
Although
we
shot
the
whole
day
and
had
a
nice
chat,
I
couldn't
look
at
her!
Shooting
In
Kashmir
Was
Exciting
&
Adventurous!
Q:
So,
it
was
one
adventurous
experience?
A:
Yes,
Kaun
Hai
was
sort
of
an
adventure!
We
were
shooting
in
Kashmir
and
it
was
damn
cold.
People
used
to
talk
about
the
condition
there
(as
it
was
not
that
good),
we
had
that
scare
as
well.
But
they
were
extremely
sweet
to
us.
I
made
new
friends
in
Kashmir.
My
family
was
not
comfortable
about
me
going
to
Kashmir
because
of
the
situation
there
and
they
were
concerned
about
me.
But
when
I
went
there,
the
production
took
a
lot
of
care
and
we
were
made
to
stay
in
a
safe
and
secure
place.
Abhimanyu,
who
was
the
producer,
was
very
particular
about
this.
We
also
had
local
guys
taking
care
of
us.
About
Reality
Shows
Q:
You
have
done
MTV
Roadies
and
Nach
Baliye
4,
will
you
be
interested
in
doing
reality
shows
in
the
future
as
well?
A:
I
haven't
thought
about
doing
reality
shows.
But
yes,
I
would
do
anything
to
entertain
my
audiences.
If
they
want
me
to
do
a
reality
show,
then
I
can!
But,
if
you
ask
me
whether
I
can
do
Roadies
again,
then
I
shall
say
a
‘no'!
Because
the
show
has
changed
a
lot
from
the
time
I
was
there
to
now,
and
I
can't
use
swear
words.
Will
Shaleen
Do
Bigg
Boss
If
Offered?
Q:
What
do
you
have
to
say
about
Bigg
Boss?
A:
Shaleen
says
that
he
doesn't
know
anything
about
Bigg
Boss
and
hasn't
watched
it
as
well.
He
says,
"Many
of
my
friends
have
done
it,
but
I
don't
know
about
Bigg
Boss
experiences.
I
even
don't
know
why
people
go
and
what
they
do
in
the
Bigg
Boss."
But
when
we
told
him
about
the
whole
concept
of
not
interacting
with
the
outside
world
after
entering
the
Bigg
Boss
house,
he
said,
"Then
no!
I
can't
stay
without
my
friends
and
family!"
He
also
added,
"Well,
if
I
do
go,
I
will
just
go
to
see
what
I
can
do!"
"Medium
Doesn’t
Matter"
Q:
What
type
of
shows
and
roles
would
you
like
to
play
in
the
future?
Any
plans
of
doing
digital
shows/web
series?
A:
For
me,
the
medium
doesn't
matter,
what
matters
is
work
and
I
love
working.
If
there
is
anything
which
is
interesting,
challenging
and
entertaining
for
me,
then
I
will
go
ahead.
Because
I
feel
what
entertains
me,
entertains
people.
That's
why
I
do
limited
shows.
I
love
excitement
and
want
to
do
variety
of
roles.
I
did
Suryaputra
Karn,
as
I
had
not
done
any
mythological
show
before.
The
character
Ranjit
Singh
was
very
different,
as
I
had
not
played
a
Sardar
before!
It
was
exciting
to
play
a
Sardar
and
saying
Vahi
Guru's
lines.
Shaleen's
Favourite
Co-star
Q:
Who
is
your
favourite
co-star?
A:
There
are
a
lot
of
favourite
co-stars.
But
I
cherish
working
with
Jennifer
Winget.
We
had
done
a
show
together
8-9
years
ago.
It
was
at
the
initial
stage
of
my
career,
I
was
nervous.
I
enjoyed
working
with
her,
as
she
is
disciplined
and
a
good
actor!
"Would
Love
To
Work
With
Jennifer
Winget
&
Karan
Patel"
Q:
So
would
you
love
to
work
with
Jennifer
Winget
again?
A:
If
given
a
chance,
I
would
love
to
work
with
her.
Actually,
there
is
a
long
list
of
people
with
whom
I
want
to
work
with.
I
would
love
to
with
my
brother
Karan
Patel.
We
will
have
a
lot
of
fun
working
together.
In
movies,
I
have
really
admired
Kamal
Haasan
and
Shahrukh
Khan.
I
love
Deepika
Padukone.
I
would
love
to
work
with
everyone.
The
list
doesn't
end.
The
Actor
Loved
Vicky
Kaushal's
Performance
In
Sanju
Q:
Any
role/actor's
performance
from
the
recent
movie
that
inspired
you?
A:
I
liked
Vicky
Kasual's
performance
in
Sanju.
Ranbir
Kapoor
is
also
a
very
good
actor,
but
I
liked
Vicky
Kaushal
in
the
movie,
as
he
has
done
a
brilliant
job
in
the
film!
More
About
His
Hollywood
Project
Q:
Any
Bollywood
project
lined-up?
A:
Not
as
of
now.
I
am
talking
and
meeting
people,
but
haven't
locked
anything
till
now.
Q:
You
are
all
set
to
make
your
Hollywood
Debut.
You
even
got
an
opportunity
to
learn
the
craft
from
Michelle
Danner.
Fans
would
love
to
know
the
details
of
your
Hollywood
debut.
A:
Michelle
Danner
has
trained
some
of
the
most
reputed
actors
in
Hollywood.
It
was
a
real
pleasure
to
learn
from
her.
She
was
a
sweetheart.
It
was
very
good!
But,
the
Hollywood
debut
will
take
a
little
while,
because
of
the
legalities.
Fans
Are
His
Extended
Family
Q:
One
thing
you
love
and
hate
about
being
an
actor?
A:
I
don't
hate
anything
about
acting.
I
love
the
process
of
acting
tremendously.
I
have
been
away
from
my
family
since
a
long
time.
The
love
I
receive
from
my
fans
is
the
reason
that
I
don't
miss
my
family
too
much.
Fans
are
my
extended
family
and
I
love
to
interact
with
them
on
social
media.
The
love
I
get
from
fans
is
the
best
thing
about
being
an
actor.
Workout
Regime
Q:
What's
your
workout
regime
like
that
keeps
you
so
fit?
A:
The
first
thing
I
do
in
the
morning
is
to
hit
the
gym
or
jog.
Any
kind
of
physical
activity
is
very
important.
It
is
not
for
the
looks
of
it,
but
it
is
to
do
with
my
discipline
and
health.
I
always
tell
everybody
that
you
should
have
some
kind
of
physical
activity
like
cycling,
jogging
or
walking,
to
keep
yourself
healthy
and
fit.
Freedom
Means...
Q:
Independence
Day
is
around
the
corner,
what
does
freedom
mean
to
you?
A:
For
me,
freedom
is
liberation
and
living
guilt
free!
You
should
never
do
something
which
you
are
guilty
of.
If
you
can't
do
good,
don't
do
bad.
"My
Country
Is
My
Mother
And
I
Love
My
Mother"
Q:
What's
your
‘proud
to
be
Indian'
moment?
A:
The
actor
says
that
he
was
called
Sahil
in
his
childhood
days,
but
was
later
given
the
name
Shaleen
by
Guruji
Swami
Satyamitranand
Maharaj
when
he
was
in
the
seventh
grade.
He
further
adds,
"Bharat
mere
liye
meri
maa
hai,
aur
hamari
upbringing
wasie
hui
hai.
I
don't
need
a
reason
to
love
my
mother.
My
country
is
my
mother
and
I
love
my
mother."
Shaleen's
Message
For
His
Fans
Q:
Finally,
do
you
have
any
message
for
your
fans?
A:
As
much
as
I
can,
I
would
love
to
thank
them
for
being
in
my
life,
for
loving
me
and
for
all
the
appreciation
that
they've
showered
me
with.
I
just
want
to
take
every
opportunity
possible
to
thank
them
and
show
my
gratitude
towards
them.
I
love
them.
I
want
to
give
more,
in
terms
of
my
talent,
and
get
more
love
from
them.
