Kantara Chapter 1 Release Date: "Kantara," a 2022 Kannada action thriller, is written and directed by Rishab Shetty and produced by Vijay Kiragandur for Hombale Films. The film features Rishab Shetty in a dual role, portraying a Kambala champion in conflict with Murali, an honest forest officer played by Kishore.
The movie hit screens on September 30, 2022, receiving glowing reviews. It enjoyed significant commercial success, becoming the second highest-grossing Kannada film ever, following K.G.F: Chapter 2, which premiered in the same year. Additionally, in 2022, it ranked as the fourth-highest-grossing film across India.
After the triumph of Kantara, there were rumours about Rishabh Shetty producing a sequel to the film. Subsequently, it was later confirmed that Rishabh Shetty would craft a prequel titled Kantara: Chapter 1, set to hit screens in late 2024.
Recently, the makers of the film revealed the first look teaser of 'Kantara Chapter 1 (Prequel),' creating a buzz among eager audiences. The movie's official launch, marked by a traditional pooja, also took place on November 27 in Kundapura, Karnataka. Excitement abounds as shooting plans are in motion, with locations set in Sri Lanka and Udupi scheduled for the end of December or January.

In a recent interview, the film's producer, Vijay Kiragandur, expressed their intent to make Kantara 2 a more refined and dignified film. He also revealed plans for its release, aiming for either the last quarter of 2024 or the first quarter of 2025.
Rishab Shetty will both direct and star in this prequel, joined by many actors from the original installment. This pan-Indian project is set to scale up with a significant budget. While shooting is yet to commence, Ajaneesh Loknath returns as the music director for this anticipated movie.
This ambitious project will feature a diverse ensemble of talent, including artists from Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and even a few from the Hindi film industry. The casting journey involved an extensive mega audition process, with over 100 artists vying for roles, ultimately shortlisting 15 individuals for this monumental venture.
The title teaser for 'Kantara Chapter 1' offers a glimpse into Rishab Shetty's character look, accompanied by captivating music. Reportedly set against the backdrop of 350 CE, the narrative will transport audiences into the realm of the Panjurli Daiva Origin, intricately woven within the expansive Kadamba dynasty, promising a new world and an enthralling cinematic experience.
