Aptharakshaka Story

Aptharakshaka is the sequel of Apthamitra. This movie is all about the story of Nagavalli. A family in Mysore is disturbed by an ancient painting of Nagavalli. The members of the family Saraswathi (Lakshmi Gopalaswamy), Neetha (Bhavana) and Gowri (Sandhya) are psychologically affected by the presence of this painting and things have not been going too well in the house. They decide to contact Ramchandra Acharya (Avinash), a magician. Acharya takes the help of Dr Vijay (Vishnuvadhan), a psychiatrist, to solve the problem. All directions point to the huge portrait of Nagavalli (Vimala Raman) and it is observed that the portrait is the cause for this. The investigation also takes back to around 125 years when the king Vijayarajendra Bahaddur (Vishnuvardhan) used to live and how his enmity with Nagavalli has been going on since centuries. What happens from there forms the rest of the story.

Much-hyped and much-expected late Dr. Vishnuvardhan's 200th movie Aaptha Rakshaka, which is a sequel to his blockbuster movie Apthamitra, has hit the theatres today. Once again, Dr. Vishnu rocks the show as psychiatrist, but Nagavalli's magic charm seems to have failed to impress the audience.

Director P Vasu has tried to include enough number of twists and turns to make the movie Aaptha Rakshaka interesting. He has a tight grip over the narration too. But the story is weak, predictable and lacks freshness. Along with blending the seriousness of Ramachandra Acharya with comedy of Vishnu-Komal, the director has also managed to include a few action scenes.

Although the movie is the sequel of Apthamitra, it has only three characters like Psychiatrist, Nagavalli and Ramachandra Acharya are taken from original and the others are replaced by new ones. Here the story happens in Mysore and Nagavalli appears in the form of a snake. The movie seems to be a little rigid, when compared to Apthamitra.
