Khatarnak Umesh Reddy Story

Umesh Reddy movie story is based on serial rapist BA Umesh Reddy, who has been sentenced to death.

Ravi Kale will be playing the title role in forthcoming Kannada movie Umesh Reddy, a biopic on rapist and serial killer of the same name.Roopika plays a college student in the film. The film is being produced by Aditya Ramesh Reddy while Malavalli Saikrishna has directed the film apart from writing the story-screenplay and dialogues of the film.

Umesh Reddy’ tells the story of dreaded rapist and psychotic killer Umesh Reddy. The film is based on Umesh Reddy a former police constable turned killer who terrorised people a decade back in Chitradurga, Bangalore and other places. The film is based on the killings and the misdeeds done by Umesh Reddy. Sex maniac and murderer Umesh Reddy alias BA Umesh, also known as 'Jack the Ripper', who was convicted in the gruesome rape and murder of a widow in Bangalore, 14 years ago, and several other cases, was sentenced to death by the High Court in 2011.

In a city mysterious things happen all of a sudden. Women are found raped and murdered. Day by day women are terrified because of such incidents and a huge pressure is on the police to nab the culprits who are behind this serial killings. But the Police have no clue about who has raped them or murdered them. One man is behind all this and who is he? That is what ‘Umesh Reddy’ is all about.

 

Umesh was former police constable turned serial killer, who terrorised Karnataka in late 90s. He used to attack houses where women stayed alone. He would tie the victim and allegedly rape them with the knife point. Umesh was also called as psychopath killer in the police records as he used to wear the women dress after rape. The crew had named the movie as Umesh Reddy initially. Later, due to the opposition from the Umesh Reddy's family, they renamed it as Khatharnak.

Though Khatarnak was declared as the biopic of the psychopath killer Umesh Reddy by the crew, the movie starts with the disclaimer which states 'Characters in the movie are purely imaginary and it is not targeted to any individual'. The plot mainly deals with the circumstances that led Umesh to become a criminal. Khatarnak has Ravi Kale and Roopika in the leads. It is directed by Malavalli Saikrishna.

Apoorva (Roopika), a psychology student takes Umesh's character as a case study for her academics. She goes to his native, a small town near Chitradurga district and collect the information about his family.

She will also Travel to other places to know more about Umesh, and analyse the circumstances that turned him into criminal.

Khatarnak mainly deals with the concept that says 'Criminals are made not born'. It also shows the incidents that motivates him to commit mistakes.

The movie also says that poverty is the main reason, which makes a mother to motivate her son to commit crime in his childhood.

Khatarnak conveys the message that the role of a mother is very important in giving bright future for the child.

As the movie stills portrayed, Roopika is not a victim of Umesh Reddy in the story. Roopika's character is bold and challenging.

Malavalli Sai Krishna is successful in bringing the real circumstances that made a common man Umesh Reddy, a psychopath, a serial killer and a rapist.

Sharath Lohitashwa and stunt choreographer Ravi Verma have done a good job as tough cops, who puts an end to crimes. Shobha Raghavendra, Bullet Prakash and Sadhu Kokila are promising in their roles.
