10 Lakhs subsidy for 30 films

The poet and orator Doddarange Gowda who has written many songs for Kannada films chair the quality films committee for 2005-2006 to decide on 30 Kannada films that would get subsidy of Rs.10 lakhs. The last budget announcement of the Karnataka state government has increased the quality film subsidy amount from 20 films to 30 films. This is besides the award winning films getting the automatic quality subsidy amount.

Senior journalist from Aragini film weekly Ramachandrappa is one of the members in this new committee. He has immersed himself in film journalism since two and half decades and he is of course the right choice. The other members are - Exhibitor R.R.Odhogowda, Producer R.lakshman, actor Ashok, actress Vijayalakshmi Singh, critic Alur Chandrasekhar, and writer Sukanya Maruthi.
