Awardees appreciate Journalist's support

T.N. Seetharam who headed the Advisory committee of the state awards exchanged pleasantries with Ravichandran and Shivaraj Kumar along with many other award winners who got his nod in the recently announced state film awards. Husband and wife team Cameraman H.M. Ramachandra and Actress Jayamala, both awardees were separated in two different seating enclosures talking with their respective friends, but were together when they posed for photographers. They posed well for the family album photograph.

These were some of the familiar scenes witnessed during the felicitation programme organised by the Karnataka film journalists association to the state awardees for the year 2005-06. There was enthusiasm and happiness seen around and the awardees that the felicitation by the film journalists will be etched in their memory for a long time.

K.M. Veeresh, Master Kishen, Smt. Shylaja SrikanthCrazy Star Ravichandran and Shivaraj Kumar were the cynosure of all eyes, naturally. Both of them were in right mood at the colourful function. Ravichandran who has won the prestigious Puttanna Kanagal award said that it was the reaction of many people in the film industry about his award that had enthused him. "When I got the news that I have been selected for the Puttanna Kanagal award, I was little surprised and had thought whether my life as a director was over since it was normally been given to retirees and veterans. But many of my well wishers in the industry and my press friends felt happy about the award. Their satisfaction and happiness made me to accept this award gracefully' said Ravichandran.

Shivaraj Kumar remembered his late father Dr. Raj Kumar and said that his father had blessed him during the launch of the film Jogi for which he has won the fourth Best Actor film award. "The film was a huge success because of the blessings of my father and also the fantastic script written by Prem. I am glad Prem has also received this award' said Shivaraj Kumar.

Jaimala, RamachandraP. Sheshadri who was a journalist before he ventured into the film industry said that he is now very happy being felicitated by his friends who were his colleagues earlier. "The one big mistake that I did in my life was to accept the state government's offer to head the jury committee for selection of film awards. I acted in good faith and tried to be as much transparent as possible. I had a wonderful team of jury members who wanted to do their best. We toiled for more than ten days to select 35 awardees out of 850 aspirants.

Naturally we could not please all, but ensured a fair selection which was appreciated largely. But the way it has attracted some criticism has really hurt me. I thought we have done the best in a tough and thankless job. Now, I have decided not accept any such assignment in future' said T.N. Seetharam, who headed the advisory committee for selection of film awards for 2005-06.

Jogi, TN Seetharam, ShenoySeetharam was speaking at the felicitation function organised the Karnataka film journalists association at the Press Club held on Saturday night. The colourful function was attended by top stars Ravichandran, Shivaraj Kumar, Pavithra Lokesh, Ms. Jayanthi, Vishnukanth (who acted in the lead role in the film Dr. B.R. Ambedkar) directors Baragooru Ramachandrappa, Sharan, P. Sheshadri, Master Kishan, Producers Jayamala, state minister Nagaraja Shetty who has produced the award winning Tulu film and many other top technicians who have won the prestigious awards this year. Jaggesh who has already rejected the award was conspicuous by his absence.
