The
Karnataka
state
government
has
now
decided
to
include
any
one
indulging
in
the
audio
and
video
piracy
under
the
purview
of
the
Goonda
Act.
Already
Tamil
Nadu
and
Andhra
Pradesh
have
passed
orders
including
the
video
and
audio
pirates
under
the
act.
This
comes
as
a
big
boost
for
the
Kannada
film
industry
which
has
been
demanding
for
such
a
development
for
quite
a
some
time.
The
audio
company
will
stand
to
benefit
largely
from
this
new
state
government
initiative
as
piracy
has
largely
affected
the
marketing
of
the
audio
and
CD
albums.
H.D.
Gangaraj,
President
of
the
Karnataka
Film
Chamber
of
Commerce
has
welcomed
the
state
government's
new
order
and
said
it
fulfills
the
long
standing
demand
of
the
film
industry.
Most
of
the
audio
companies
have
also
welcomed
the
new
order.
