Union Minister and Actor Ambareesh's sudden decision to resign has not taken the Kannada film industry to surprise. The film industry personalities are really happy over the decision and wants him to take up the leadership of the agitation quite vigorously. Ambareesh's close friend and Veteran actor Dr. Vishnuvardhan says that Ambareesh has done a right thing and has showed his commitment in strongest terms. 'I am not surprised or stunned. I knew what was in my mind. I had just said yesterday that he has to take leadership of this agitation during the film industry rally. I don't say he has responded to our request, but this was in his mind for a past few days. He has proved beyond doubt that he has people's interests in his mind and he would not care for power. This is the greatest sacrifice that any one can do. He has shown the way. It is up to other people in the helm of affairs to follow him. It is better to put pressure on Central Government by showing that we can sacrifice anything for the Cauvery' he added.
The Speaker of the Lok Sabha Somnath Chaterjee, while affirming that Ambareesh's letter was faxed to him, said that the letter was not in an acceptable format and that it could not be accepted. The actors resignation could be accepted only after personally appearing before the Speaker of the House clearly explaining his reasons and then signing the resignation letter in the presence of the Speaker. He is reported ti have stated his reason for resignation as the injustice done to his constituency Mandya in view of the Cauvery Tribunal Final Award.
Shashi Kumar also hails the resignation of Ambareesh as a great thing that has happened in the crisis and calls for his increased participation in the agitation. "He has really proved that he is the real "Mandyada Gandu' says Shashi Kumar. Jaggesh is also quite happy that Ambareesh has shown that he is above power politics.
'Ambi Anna has never cared for power. He has proved it many a times. He has once again proved. Now, his detractors should stop criticizing him. He is perhaps one person who has proved that his commitment to Cauvery unquestionable' says Jaggesh.
Sa. Ra. Govindoo, the Vice President of the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce says that Ambaressh's resignation is the best thing that has happened to boost the struggle of the people who are now fighting for the rights of Cauvery. 'Ambi's example has to be followed by others. He has answered his conscience and it has also fulfilled our aspirations' says Govindoo.
