Film on the importance of Kabbadi

Kabbaddi is the most popular game in the country and in Karnataka it is the most popular and enjoyable sport in the rural areas. The Kabbaddi contests always attract good crowds in many towns and taluk places even today. Karnataka has its share of good sportsman who has brought honours and recognition to this sport which still holds despite an overwhelming exposure to more glamorous sports like Cricket and Tennis. Now, this popular sport of Karnataka is getting its due, as some talented youngsters in the Kannada film industry have decided to make a film which focuses highly on Kabbaddi. The film will be produced by Prabha Shivalingaiah, Manjula and Asha in the banner of Visthaara and Khandaaya. Narendra Babu is the director of the film.

Actor Kishore who is one of the persons behind this project said that the film has three important stars and the name Kabbaddi itself is a big star for the film. According to him. Music director Hamsalekha and the cameraman Krishna whose work in Mungaru Male is being highly spoken about are the two other stars. Kishore said that the idea of forming an organisation like Visthaara was to promote rural sports, culture and the milieu through interestingly made films. "Preservation of rural culture and folk is the most important aspect that is driving us to make films like Kabbaddi said Kishore.

Nanda Kishor said the regular shooting of the film will start in Mandya in the second week of April when a National Kabbaddi tournament is also organised. A new find Praveen will play the lead role in the film while the heroines have not been selected yet. He said that the film will not only focus on the strengths of Kabbaddi but also showcases as to how this game is important in today's society.
