After
a
successful
debut
in
Tamil
and
Malayalam
filmdom,
the
Pyramid
Saimira
group,
leading
distributors
and
exhibitors
in
South
India,
have
entered
into
film
production
in
Kannada.
Avva,
being
directed
by
Kavitha
Lankesh,
is
the
first
Kannada
film
which
is
going
to
be
produced
by
them.
The
film
has
a
rich
star
cast,
comprising
Vijay
of
Duniya
fame,
Shruthi,
Rangayana
Raghu,
Smitha,
and
Home
Minister
of
Karnataka,
M.P.Prakash.
The
corporate
house
is
planning
to
produce
10
to
12
films
per
year
in
Kannada,
and
targets
leasing
out
many
theaters
in
the
state,
as
told
by
Swaminathan,
the
Managing
Director
of
Saimira,
to
the
mediapersons
recently.
Avva
is
based
on
one
of
the
episodes
of
'Mussanjeya
Katha
Prasanga'
of
late
P.Lankesh.
