Kannada
film
star
Sudeep's
first
Hindi
film
Phoonk
is
set
to
release
on
August
22.
The
Kannada
film
fans
are
quite
eagerly
expecting
that
a
fine
performer
like
Sudeep
is
all
set
to
storm
Bollywood
like
no
other
South
Indian
actor
as
this
horror
film
will
also
be
performance
oriented
film.
Sudeep
says
that
he
had
accepted
the
offer
to
work
in
Phoonk
only
because
he
wanted
to
work
with
a
well
known
and
talented
director
like
Ram
Gopal
Verma.
This
was
disclosed
in
a
press
conference
he
had
addressed
in
Bangalore
on
Thursday
along
with
the
film's
director
Ram
Gopal
Verma.
As
for
Sudeep
is
concerned
he
says
that
he
chose
to
do
the
film
mainly
because
he
had
got
an
opportunity
to
work
with
a
much
respected
director
like
Ram
Gopal
Verma.
And
he
also
adds
that
Verma
has
taken
best
out
of
him.
"After
working
for
nearly
40
days
for
the
film,
I
got
a
feeling
that
many
facets
of
my
performance
was
captured
by
Vermaji',
says
Sudeep.
And
he
also
adds
that
Phoonk
deals
with
Black
Magic
and
will
be
scarier
than
Verma's
previous
horror
hit
Bhooth.
'The
story
of
Phoonk
revolves
around
the
Black
Magic.
The
film
has
the
potentiality
to
scare
the
audience.
It
is
a
different
type
of
film,
but
it
will
appeal
to
a
large
section
of
the
film,
though
comedy
elements
are
not
focused
in
the
film.
I
am
working
with
many
top
theatre
and
television
artists.
Amrutha
Khanvilkar
is
the
film's
heroine.
I
think
Phoonk
will
make
you
think
about
many
sequences
of
the
film
for
many
days
after
you
have
seen
the
film'
says
Sudeep
in
a
conversation
with
IANS.
And
Ramu
also
has
some
good
words
for
Sudeep.
'I
chose
Sudeep
because
he
is
a
very
good
performer.
I
was
impressed
with
many
of
his
films.
I
have
seen
two
of
his
films
My
Autograph
and
Ranga
S.S.L.C.
When
I
was
writing
the
script,
I
though
he
would
be
perfectly
suited
for
the
lead
character
in
the
film.
He
worked
very
hard
and
has
managed
to
get
his
lines
correct.
And
I
am
sure
that
he
has
done
his
home
work
properly'
said
Ram
Gopal
Verma.
'It
is
a
film
that
will
scare
the
people
witless.
It
is
based
on
black
magic,
which
has
its
own
believers.
The
believability
factor
of
the
film,
the
way
the
film
has
been
shot
and
the
performance
of
artists
will
certainly
scare
you'
says
Ram
Gopal
Verma.
