In the wake of the decision by the Karnataka Government to exempt remake films from entertainment tax, a number of producers are coming forward to cash in on the opportunity to remake hit films from other languages, especially Telugu.

Veteran actor Dr. Vishnuvardhan, who is currently acting in Master with Suhasini, has accepted the remake of the Telugu superhit Ma Nanaku Pelli made a decade ago. Challenging star Darshan has agreed to act in the remake of the hit Telugu film Pokiri which has already been remade in Tamil. Upendra's next film by Naganna will be the remake of the Telugu film Dubai Seenu, his Budhdhivantha, which is ready for release is the remake of the Tamil film Naan Avanillai. Puneet Rajkumar has agreed to act in the remake of Ready, a Telugu film for Aditya Arts.

So far, almost all actors except Shivaraj Kumar have given their nod for remake films. Sudeep's Veera Madakari, which he is acting and directing, is a remake of the Telugu film Vikramarkadu. Sudeep is known to direct only remake movies in the past. In this year's releases, Maru Janma, Mr. Garagasa, Athmeeya, Indhra and Kamannana Makkalu are remake films. Last week's release Anthu Inthu Preethi Banthu, featuring Ramya and Aditya, is a remake of the Telugu film Adavari Matalaku Ardhale Verule.
