Karnataka Government has now planned to organise an award function to honour the women achievers with Kittur Rani Chennamma Award. Late Dr. Rajkumar's wife producer Parvathamma Rajkumar will also be awarded in the function, which will be held on July 8 at Chowdayya Memorial Hall, Bangalore. Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa will give away the awards.
Addressing the press meet on Thursday, minister for women and child affairs, PM Narendra Swamy said that the Kittur Rani Chennamma award would be given to women achievers in a formal function on International Women's Day on March 8. But we could not hold a function due to the parliamentary elections.
However, the Government officials had recently faced lot of criticism from the public after they insulted producer Parvathamma Rajkumar by giving her dud demand draft (DD) of Rs.10,000 on last Saturday. Parvathamma had said that she would not receive the award even if the government would arganise an award function.
Will Parvathamma attend the award ceremony now?
