Madhuri is back to conquer Sandalwood

S. Narayan"s Chikpete Sachagalu will mark the return of the lovely Madhuri aka Dimple who has been absent from the industry for the past one year. Soon after her last film Maru Janma released a year ago, she went into hibernation.

Madhuri says that it was studies which kept her away from films. “When I debuted two years ago, I was just 17. I wasn"t aware of the ways of the industry. Also, my studies took a backseat. So I decided to take a break, give my 2nd PUC exams and get my priorities right."

Madhuri has lost weight and now looks super fit. She says that she was aghast on seeing herself overweight in her Tamil film Taragu right after Maru Janma and decided to get fit. Now, back in the industry, she seeks meaningful roles. “But in spite of losing weight and being talented, the offers aren"t up to my expectations as people here are keener on getting outsiders than giving opportunities to local talent. Why aren"t we encouraged like them? When local girls are as glamorous as ones from B-town, why aren"t we given equal opportunities? In fact, when outsiders give six takes to get a scene right, we do the same in two takes. I have never been asked for more than three takes even in the most difficult scenes," says Madhuri.

Madhuri is completely open to the being part of the new bikini brigade in the South if the film demands it but admits that parading around in a bikini may be too much for the Kannada film industry.
