At the inauguration address of the third Bengalooru International film festival, Chief Minister B.S. Yedyurappa had promised that a Cinema Academy would be set up within two weeks. Now, two months after the event, the Karnataka Government has given the green signal to form the Academy. Last week, the Karnataka government announced the formation of the academy"s committee after the cabinet"s approval.
Eminent director T.S. Nagabharana will head the academy; senior journalist K.H. Savitri, H.N. Maruthi, Jai Jagdeesh, Chindodi Bangaresh, M.N. Vyasa Rao, Gunashila and Ravishanker are the other members. Earlier there were reports that Shruthi, actress and wife of director S. Mahendar, would be chosen as the academy head.
