Sandalwood in a remaking spree

It is raining remakes in Sandalwood and never seems to stop. If we take the films released last year, many of them were remakes of successful films from other languages. Now, with the government easing the entertainment tax for remake films, the scene will only heat up with more films from other languages coming into Kannada.

What could be the reason for filmmakers favouring remakes? Is it because by remaking successful films they are assured of success? Is it because they think it is easy for them to make since the script is already written? And a rather significant question: are our writers/ filmmakers running out of creativity?
