The number of communal clashes is going up day by day all over Karnataka. Now fundamentalists have gone to the extent of attacking the film team and the artiste, who were preparing a statue of Charlie Chaplain for a Kannada movie. Karnataka Literary Artistes Union (KLAU) has condemned the alleged attack claiming that artist has no barriers like caste, community, country and language.

Now KLAU has organised a protest meet in front of Mahatma Gandhi statue at MG Road, Bangalore. Popular writers and artist will attend the protest meet, which will be held at 4.30 on Friday 20th March. The Union will later meet the Governor and submit a written appeal to take action against the miscreants.

However, it was reported that Houseful producers have got permission from State Government to build a Charlie Chaplin statue at Maravanthe beach in Udupi. Director Hemanth Hegde, who was in Udupi to oversee the project, was planning to shift the location to either Bhatkal beach or Karwar beach following protests from a pro-Hindu outfit.
