Srinagar Kitty hates National Film Awards

Kannada actress Umashree has recently bagged Best Actress award at 55th Indian National Film Awards for her performance in the film Gulabi Talkies and Tamil movie Kachivaram was awarded Best film.

What is your opinion about Indian National Film Awards? What is your reaction to art movies like Kanchivaram and Gulabi Talkies?
I don"t like this very segment called National film Awards, because few juries will sit and decide the awards and there is no respect for audiences response, which is the real judgment. You can"t say all art movies are good and all commercial movies are bad. There is hardly any space for commercial movies in National Film Awards. As for as Kanchivaram is concerned, I've seen it and it is really a good movie. Even audiences have shown good response to it. But I didn"t like the Kannada movie Gulabi talkies. It doesn"t have continuity.

Then which Kannada movie do you think would have been sent for National Film Award?
I would like to reiterate fact that there should not be any partiality between art and commercial movies. You need to consider audience response also. Gaalipata is a good movie and it has even won State Film Award. Even Milana is a good movie, which has been successful at the Box Office. Either of these two movies could have been sent for National Film Award.

How would you react to Umashree winning Best Actress award at 55th Indian National film Awards? Would you like to bag a National Film Award?
There is no second thought about Umashree"s acting. Everyone knows about her acting. Her performance has been already recognized by many awards and audiences. I don"t think she will be much excited to get the Best Actress National film award. I believe in the response of the audience, which is big award for. I don"t like any awards.
