Debutant director Karthik, who has earlier worked as assistant director to actor Kashinath for the Telugu movie Jackpot, is now turning independent director. He is set to direct Kashinath's son Abhimanyu a.k.a Alok in his first directorial venture 12 AM, which is a suspense thriller.

Civil Engineer Vijayakumar, who owns a construction company in Bangalore, is producing the film 12 AM in the name of his wife Prathima under the banner Shri Gayathri Productions. The movie is presented by Kashinath. The film revolves around the incident that happens in the midnight. Besides direction, Karthik has also penned story, screenplay and dialogues for it.

Talking to oneindia, Karthik said, "I've studied B.Com and worked as an accountant. During my childhood, I used to watch lots of movies and was interested to take part in filmmaking. I contacted Kashinath sir in 2001. Since I knew Telugu, he appointed me as an assistant director for his Telugu movie Jackpot. After that, I was desperate to become an independent director. This burning desire led me to write a story."

"Everyone will have some kind of phobias and the movie 12 AM is an attempt to exhibit one such fear/phobia onscreen. It deals with 'Nyctophobia' (phobia of darkness or fear of night). It will be shot in 50 days in and around Bangalore. Kashinath sir's son Abhimanyu is playing the hero and we are in search of suitable face for the female lead. The movie will starting rolling from this month end."

However, The film 12 AM has two songs and poplar musician V Manohar has composed music for them along with the background score. The recording of songs for the movie 12 AM was held at Chamundeshwari Studios on last Saturday. According to Karthik, the film will be made with whopping Rs. one crore.
