Without six-pack abs I survived in industry for 4 years: Yogesh

By By: Shekhar H Hooli

After series of failures on the trot, actor Yogesh a.k.a Loose Maada has taken a long break from shooting and enjoying the leisure. Meanwhile, he has done retrospection and found out that lack of the promotion is the reason behind the series of failures at the Box Office. He has already completed filming for his latest film Yaksha. And he is now gearing up to promote the movie.

Loose Maada was at Red FM 93.4 radio station to promote the music of the movie Yaksha on Thursday. He exclusively spoke to OneIndia about Yaksha and his other upcoming movies. Here are the excerpts of actor Yogesh interview.

What is the specialty of the movie Yaksha?
It is all about rowdyism. But unlike other underworld movies, the hero is a gangster and he uses gun instead of sword and sickle. He is a college student and why he holds a gun is the subject of the film. The movie has a host of popular actors from different film industries. Delhi-based girl Rubi Parihar, Bollywood actors Nana Patekar, Atul Kulkarni, Tamil actress Sharanya, Kishore, Petro Prasanna and many others are acting in the film. I am playing a collage student while Rubi Parihar appears as my love interest. Nana Patekar is playing my father, who is a political analyst. Sharanya is my mother, Atul Kulkarni is a don and Kishore is police officer.

How was your shooting experience with all these actors?
We've had lot of fun during the shooting. Besides this, we've learned so many things from these actors. Especially, I gained a lot from them. Everyday was a new and fresh day for me. I used to get something new to learn from them. Although Yaksha is the first movie of director Ramesh R Bhagwath, he knows so many things about art of filmmaking. He was quite co-operative on the sets. Even Manju's dialogues are good and I enjoyed them a lot.

What would you like to comment upon the music of the film? And when will be it launched?
Yaksha has five songs and Anoop Seelin has composed music for them. all the songs have come out very well. Escpecially, the title track 'Yaksha...' is melodioussong. The songs are being premiered on air for the first time on Red FM radio 93.04 today (July 15). The audio will be formally launched on 23rd of this month at a grand function in Davangere. We're holding this function there because severeal fans had requested me to release my next movie music there when I had visited the city for promotion of one of my recent movies.

Already there are several movies made on the theme of rowdyism and 95% of them are flop. In such a case, why did you prefer to do movie on the same stale subject?
Since my childhood, I've been watching movies on love stories, but the trend continues till today. Why? Because audience want to watch them. Success does not always depends on the theme/subject, but it depends on how you handle the subject and execute it on the screens. That's why I accepted the project.

After Ambari, almost all your movies have failed at the Box Office. Have you ever tried to retrospect? What are the reasons for it?
First of all, I would like to clarify your misconception. Almost all of my movies have done well at the Box Office, but they didn't come to light because the producers didn't share the figues of earnings with the media. But the producer of Ravana suffered loss at the Box Office because he didn't do much promotion. My another movie Punda would have done better if it was promoted well. The theatres were running houseful in Hubli and Belgaum, when I visit these cities 4 days after its release. But many of the audience in Bangalore didn't have knowledge about the release of the film. So it failed to reach our reach our expectations.

How do you plan to avoid this failure at the Box Office in future?
Firstly, I am planning to stop signing whatever comes my way. Hereafter, I'll do only three to four movies per year. Secondly, lack of promotional works is the reason behind the failures at the Box Office. So I will plan to spend lot of time on publicity. That's why I have taken a five months break now. The movie Yaksha is releasing in August and I'm going busy in publicity works.

Recently, you have signed a movie Loose Mada with Golden girl Ramya. When will this movie be launched? What is your comment on the movie?
During my childhood, I was very much excited about having a snap with actress Ramya and Shivaraj Kumar. After entering films, I had hundreds of photographs with Shivanna, but I didn't have even one photo with Ramya. I was desperately waiting to have a photo with her. Now, I've got a chance to act with her and I'm very much excited about it. However, the title of the movie Loose Mada is not finalised yet. And other cast and crew are also not finalised yet. It is expected to go to floors in August.

What are your upcoming movies?
As I said, I've decided to sign only three to four films per year. So I've now stopped accepting any project. Recently, I have signed one more movie. It'll be directed by PN Sathya and details of cast and crew and title of the film are finalised in August.

These days, several Sandalwood stars are busy tweeting on social networking sites like Twitter, Facebook and Orkut. Do you have accounts in any of these sites? If so, how often do you chat with your fans?
Yah! I've accounts in Orkut and Facebook. But I don't have it in Twitter because I don't like this site. Everyday, I spend at least an hour chatting with my fans. It's really fun.

It was reported earlier that you would do rigorous gym and build your body. Have you started doing exercise? What do you think of six-pack abs?
Yah! I had said, but I could not start doing gym due to the promotion of my upcoming movies. I think six-pack abs are not a must thing, but acting skills are very essential for an actor. That's why I survived in film industry for the past four years without six-pack abs.
