A
grand
feast
is
about
to
start
for
Kannada
film
lovers.
'Chitra
Samooha" has
now
come
up
with
a
new
idea
to
showcase
the
art
of
various
filmmakers,
who
have
been
unable
to
show
their
talent
due
to
lack
of
theatres
for
screening
these
films.
The
institution
is
determined
to
shed
light
on
quality
films
that
are
being
made
in
Kannada.
This
idea
has
evolved
into
the
formation
of
'Chitra
Varsha".
For
an
entire
year
starting
from
this
Saturday,
104
shows
of
52
off
beat
Kannada
films
made
in
the
past
decade
will
be
screened
at
Suchitra
Film
Society.
Every
movie
will
have
two
shows
one
on
Saturday
and
one
on
Sunday,
at
6:30
pm.
The
inauguration
of
'Chitra
Varsha" will
be
held
at
JSS
auditorium.
The
master
of
India
Cinema,
director
Shyam
Benegal
will
be
going
to
Bengaluru
for
inaugurating
'Chitra
Varsha".
Dr
UR
Ananthamurthy,
who
has
been
honoured
by
Jnanapeeth
award,
will
also
be
present
at
the
event.
The
main
aim
of
'Chitra
Varsha" is
to
preserve
those
films,
who
despite
winning
recognition
nationally
and
internationally
are
facing
a
hard
time.
One
such
neglected
film
Vimukthi,
which
had
managed
to
win
national
acclaim
in
2008,
will
be
screened
on
Saturday.
Finally,
thanks
to
'Chitra
Varsha",
the
local
people
of
Bengaluru
will
now
get
to
see
some
quality
off
beat
cinema.
