Chindodi Leela is no more

Theatre artiste and actress Chindodi Leela aged 72 passed away at private hospital at 9.10 pm on Thursday. She suffered from a heart attack and had undergone a Bypass Surgery on January 18. Her last rites will be performed at Halepete on Saturday. Chief Minister BSYeddurappa in his condolence message told that government will meet all the medical bills and she will be cremated with full state honours. Before that her body will kept at Gubbi Veerana Mandira for her fans to pay respect.

Chindodi Leela was Born in Davangere to Chindodi Verappa and Shanthamma. She started acting at the age of five through Siddarameshwara Play, from then she never looked back. She started her own drama company in 1975. Chindodi Leela has been associated with theatre for about 40 years. Policena Magalu (Daughter of Police) had seen 4500 shows and entered Guinness Book of Record. She has also acted in movies like Puttana Kanagal's Sharapanjara, Tumbida Koda, Gaanayogi Panchakshari Gavayi etc.

Earning numerous awards along the way she was conferred Padma Shri by the Government of India and she has also received Gubbi Veeranna Award, the Sangeet Natak Academy award. We at Oneindia pray that her soul rest in peace and pray god to give strength to her family and fans to bear her loss.
