Kannada
cinema
has
been
practicing
the
habit
of
recreating
famous
old
songs.
Now,
the
latest
addition
is
the
Kannada
movie
Gubbi,
which
has
been
released
in
the
theaters
today.
The
movie
has
used
the
yesteryear
song
Neerinalli
Aleya
Ungura,
which
is
a
beautiful
romantic
number.
It
was
first
written
by
RN
Jayagopal
for
the
1968
movie
Bedi
Bandhavalu
and
was
sung
by
Dr
PB
Srinivas
and
P
Susheela.
But
in
Gubbi,
it
has
been
picturized
in
a
raunchy
dance
number.
Debutant
director
Vijay
is
making
the
film
for
producer
Anaji
Nagaraj.
This
wrong
treatment
of
the
romantic
song
has
been
criticized
by
many
senior
journalists
and
film
critics
following
its
screening
at
Renukamba
theatre
in
Malleswaram.
PG
Srinivasamurthy,
a
veteran
journalist
and
historian
on
Kannada
cinema,
walked
out
in
the
middle
of
the
song
to
protest
the
bad
thought
of
the
director.
However,
the
renewed
songs
keeping
the
lyrics
intact,
have
failed
in
most
of
the
cases.
Many
film
critics
had
expressed
their
anger
against
the
pressing
of
certain
words
when
singer
Hariharan
sang
the
yesteryear
song
'Ravi
Vermana
Kunchada
Bale
Bhale
Saakaravo".
This
song
was
originally
sung
by
Dr.
PB
Srinivos.
However,
it
was
unavoidable
as
it
was
used
for
Upendra"s
film
Buddhivantha.
