Jackie - Music Review

Expectations:
Hit after Hit. When one thinks of music scored by Harikrishna the word 'Hit' naturally comes to mind. After all, his music has topped the chart in 2010. What kind of expectations can one have from the music of a film which is directed by a man who pretty much has a patent on a music genre itself – 'The Suri music'?. Adding to that the movie is coming under Dr. Rajkumar's home production Poornima Enterprises with Puneet Rajkumar heading the starcast, one can understand the unbelievable expectations masses have from this film. The movie has five songs, which are all penned by Yogaraj Bhat. Now, let's checkout what this team has to offer.

Shiva Anta Hogutidde

The opening track of Jackie 'Shiva Anta Hogutidde' has given a wonderful opening for the album. Thanks to Harikrishna and Yogaraj Bhat for giving catchy tune and lyrics. Singer Tippu's rendition has excellently blended with the tune. The song boasts of some intoxicating rhythm and comes so quickly on your lips that just one listening and you can already hear yourself humming it around.

Eradu Jadeyannu
Singer(s): Sonu Nigam and Shreya Ghoshal
Lyrics: Yogaraj Bhat
With the names Sonu Nigam and Shreya Ghoshal flashing on the cards as the lead singers of the song, one can easily predict that this would be a romantic number. Indeed, this is the only song in the album which can be labeled as a melodious track. The song requires a few hearings to be grasped but sticks on to your mind after a while.The song is less about tune and more about vocals.

Ekka Raja Rani

Lyrics: Yogaraj Bhat
Yogaraj's trademark number requires just one listening though to qualify as the top of the charts material. A high on energy, youthful and energetic, 'Ekka Raja Rani' song was leaked on Youtube before the album release. The foot tapping number has Kailash Kher coming behind the mike. As usual he has rocked as it is a tailor-made song for him.

Edavatt Aiatu
Singer(s): Puneet Rajkumar, Priya Hemesh
Lyrics: Yogaraj Bhat
Harikrishna has opted Puneet Rajkumar and Priya Hemesh to croon this number. Catchy beats and funky lyrics ensure that the song does well in carrying forward the narrative. Though the song isn't designed to last for months at stretch, 'Edavatt Aiatu' should do well for the situation in the film.

Jackie Jackie
Singer(s): Naveen Madhav
Lyrics: Yogaraj Bhat
The finale is interesting with Naveen Madhav coming up with the title track. This song can be rated as one of the best title track in Puneet Rajkumar's career. With a four minutes-running length, song appears to be the introduction song of the character played by Puneet in Jackie. The fast paced number will surely attract the masses.

Overall
On the whole, Jackie is a good quality album which has many number of gems in the album. There is not a single song which doesn't work and each one tries to better the other. But, drawback of the album is that the songs are targeted towards masses and the absence of conventional melody track might affect the audio sales. Nonetheless, the soundtrack will be among the best musical pieces of the year. It's a must buy audio for music lovers!
