Pancharangi - Music Review

By By: Prakash Upadhyaya

Expectations:
The moment you see names like Yogaraj Bhat, Mano Murthy and Jayanth Kaikini in the credits, the word 'quality' comes naturally and expectations reaches sky-high. Such has been the brand value of the trio. After creating magic in Mungaaru Male and Manasaare they have joined hands again for Pancharangi. One can just state that it would be nothing less than sacrilege for this team to present listeners with something which is less than being excellent. Since youth is the flavour of the season, one expects the music of Pancharangi to be carrying urban sensibilities that one expects from the film as well. This time Bhat has taken bigger role while penning the lyrics. He along with Kaikini has written three songs each. Let's check out what this elite team has to offer.

Life Ishtene
Singer(s): Chetan Sosca, Yogaraj Bhat, Ananya Bhagath, Akshata Ramanath
Lyrics: Yogaraj Bhat
The track has already grabbed the attention of audience and the song has given enough publicity for the film. It gives clear indication of what the film is all about. Arriving with the theme of care-a-damn attitude, 'Life Ishtene' is completely different and lively song written by Yogaraj. Mano Murthy has opted Chetan Sosca to croon the song which also has Yogaraj Bhat, Ananya Bhagath, Akshata Ramanath as the supporting vocalists.

Udisuve Belakine Seereya
Singer(s): Sonu Nigam
Lyrics: Jayanth Kaikini
Romantic and upbeat track 'Udisuve Belakine Seereya' has Sonu Nigam behind the mike. He has done well again with his soft vocals. But one cannot expect this song to be a instant hit like 'Mungaru Maleye' from Mungaru Male or 'Ello Maleyaagideyandu' from Manasaare. However, the Kaikini's lyric is impressive.

Hudugaru Beku
Singer(s): Shreya Ghoshal, Chetan Sosca
Lyrics: Yogaraj Bhat
The song set in a mood where the girl is explaining about her dream boy and appears to be a situational song. A good number which has Shreya Ghoshal coming behind the mike along with Chetan Sosca . But Chetan's voice goes unnoticed with the chorus. The song has a good tempo and should look good on screen. Again, Yogaraj's lyric has fitted well to the rhythm of the song.

Arey Rey Re Pancharangi
Singer(s): Akshata Ramanath, Anuradha Bhat, Keshava Prasad, Bunty, Chetan Sosca
Lyrics: Jayanth Kaikini
The title track of the film with vocals by Akshata Ramanath, Anuradha Bhat, Keshava Prasad, Bunty and Chetan Sosca. The slow song with a wonderful composition and it has the kind of lyric, which is bound to make much more meaning when heard and seen in the film's context.

Life Ishtene
Singer(s):
Chetan Sosca,
Lyrics: Yogaraj Bhat
Chetan Sosca has got an opportunity to go solo in this song. The lyric by Yogaraj Bhat is slightly different from first song. But the tune has been retained. 'Life Ishtene' will clearly stand out as one of the best song of 2010. There was a time when Upendra's lyrics used to get lots of attention. Now, Yogaraj has overtaken him as his lyrics are turning to be a chartbuster.

Ninnaya Nalumeya
Singer(s):
Shreya Ghoshal
Lyrics: Jayanth Kaikini
Remember the impact that songs like 'Aaha Entha A Kshana' from Akash and 'Male Baruva Hagide' from Moggina Manasu had made after they were seen and heard in the films? Yes, this romantic song crooned by Shreya Ghoshal belongs to that list. Shreya has proved again that she is simply the best that when it comes to crooning melodious romantic tracks. 'Ninnaya Nalumeya' is yet another poetic track. Mano Murthy has retained 'Udisuve Belakine Seereya' tune.

Pancharangi Haadugalu
Singer(s): Hemanth Kumar, Yogaraj Bhat
Lyrics: Yogaraj Bhat
Just when one had thought that this team had reached its peak with 'Life Ishtene' there is another catchy song in the store. 'Pancharangi Haadugalu' one of the best in the album is penned by Yogaraj Bhat. Watching the video song reminds us of 3 Idiots charbuster song 'All Is Well'. It seems Bhat took inspiration from the song 'All Is Well'. But, nonetheless the song has been shot in different way. Hemanth's voice in this number is a treat to listen and Yogaraj supporting voice has blended well with his voice.

And also the album consists of instrumental pieces of 'Ninnaya Nalumeya', 'Lifeu Ishtene', 'Hudugaru Beku', 'Are Arey' and Pancharangi Haadugalu.

Overall
There are number of gems in the album, most notably being 'Life Isthene', Panchrangi Haadugalu' and 'Ninnaiya Nalumeya'. Go for it, this one is not to be missed as it has Mano Murthy coming up with one of his best soundtracks in recent times. Pancharangi delivers what it promised.

Our Pick(S)
'Life Isthene', Panchrangi Haadugalu' and 'Ninnaiya Nalumeya'.
