After
Rebel
star
Ambareesh,
actor
Shashikumar
is
the
latest
Sandalwood
celebrity
to
join
the
Bellary
Chalo
Padayatra,
which
is
being
undertaken
by
the
Karnataka
Congress
MLAs.
The
Congress
party
men
were
expecting
him
much
before,
but
he
joined
the
Padayatra
on
the
tenth
day
when
it
had
already
crossed
the
half
the
way
to
Bellary
and
reached
his
Challakere
constituency
in
Chitradurga
district.
But
the
Kannada
actor
had
to
face
the
wrath
of
several
Congress
party
workers
of
his
constituency.
They
claimed
that
the
actor
had
not
visited
his
constituency
for
the
past
few
months.
They
even
alleged
that
he
had
not
even
visited
during
a
couple
of
elections.
They
shouted
slogans
against
him
and
did
not
allow
him
to
take
part
in
the
Padayatra.
Shashi
Kumar
was
spellbound
and
could
not
join
the
Padayatra
for
a
while.
Later,
the
actor
denied
the
allegations
of
not
visiting
his
constituency
in
front
of
the
media.
He
said,
"I've
visited
my
constituency
on
many
occasions." Talking
about
the
people
who
opposed
him,
he
said,
"I
don't
know
who
they
(protesters)
are.
There
were
around
three
to
four
guys
and
I've
never
seen
them
before.
I
think
they
are
new
face
and
unaware
of
my
visits
to
the
city."
However,
Shashikumar
was
elected
from
Chitradurga
as
JD(U)
candidate
in
Chitradurga
Lok
Sabha
constituency
in
1999
general
elections.
Later,
he
joined
the
Conress
party
in
the
next
MLA
elections
in
2004
and
was
defeated.
