Murthy,
who
was
honoured
by
Indian
President
Pratibha
Patil
with
the
Dada
Saheb
Phalke
Award
at
56th
National
Awards
ceremony
on
March
19.
The
event
will
be
held
on
27th
March
2010
at
Khincha
Auditorium,
Bharatiya
Vidya
Bhavan,
Race
Course
Road,
Bangalore.
At
3
pm,
the
programme
will
have
a
screening
of
VK
Murthy"s
favourite
work
Hindi
feature
film
Pyaasa
(1957).
At
6
pm
onwards,
interaction
with
VK
Murthy
will
be
held.
Cinematographer
Navroze
Contractor
welcomes
V.K.
Murthy.
Renowned
filmmaker
Govind
Nihalani
will
be
screening
a
short
film
on
VK
Murthy
and
he
will
also
share
stories
of
his
days
with
VK
Murthy.
His
biographer
Uma
Rao
will
also
talk
about
her
association
with
him.
The
event
is
open
to
all.
Late
actor
Dr.
Rajkumar
was
the
first
Kannadiga
to
be
honoured
with
Dada
Saheb
Phalke
Award.
Now,
Veteran
cameraman,
who
has
spent
most
of
his
life
in
Bollywood
film
industry
and
is
presently
staying
in
Bangalore,
has
become
the
second
Kannadiga
to
get
this
honour.
It
is
really
a
great
matter
of
pride
for
Kannadigas.
However,
VK
Murthy
is
one
of
the
most
renowned
cinematographer
of
the
Hindi
film
Industry
and
is
best
known
for
his
work
in
Chaudvin
ka
Chand
and
Pakeezah.
He
has
worked
as
cameraman
for
several
movies
of
Guru
Dutt.
He
has
also
worked
with
directors
like
Pramod
Chakraborthy,
Shyam
Benegal
and
Govind
Nihalani.
VK
Murthy
will
always
be
revered
for
the
most
magnificent
works
of
the
black
and
white
era
of
Indian
films.
