Aishwarya Rai Bachchan confirms her presence at WKS

Mangalore girl Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has confirmed that she is attending the second World Kannada Summit. The actress is coming to Belgaum tomorrow for the three day festival.

There were confusion over her presence after a section of people objected that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's presence will create undue importance to one individual than the event. It was also reported that that the actress may not attend the function, as the state government has dropped her name from the first invitee list for the inaugural ceremony.

Aishwarya has now cleared that as she was not in Mumbai, she could not respond on time. The actress has said that she has accepted the invitation from the state government and will be part of the Vishwa Kannada Sammelana. Speaking to Times of India, she said, “It's an absolute privilege and honour to receive such a recognition and felicitation from Karnataka."

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will be honoured by the state government at the Vishwa Kannada Sammelana at Belgaum for her outstanding contributions and achievement in the field of art and culture. The purpose of the event is to recognize the people, who have made Kannadigas proud in the National and International level.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was born in Mangalore and brought up in Mumbai. Sources say that So far, the actress has not acted in Kannada movies nor attended any Kannada function. World Kannada Summit happens to be the first Kannada event that is being attended by the actress.
