Bangalore hosting international film festival in December

For the first time, the Karnataka government has planned to organise an international film festival in Bangalore. Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa has already formed a festival committee and ordered to start the preparatory works for the grand event, which will be held in December, 2011.

Recently, Ramesh B Zalaki, Secretary for Kannada and Culture Department, chaired a preliminary meeting of the festival committee. Talking about the film fest, Ramesh said that Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa had earmarked Rs five crore for the festival and Rs 1.5 crore had been released for preparatory works.

However, noted director TS Nagabharana, who is the Chairman of Kannada Film Academy, has been selected as the director of the Bangalore International Film Festival. National Award winner director Girish Kasaravalli will be the adviser for the organising Committee.
