In recent months, a trend is created in Kannada film industry. Movies of all big stars are getting huge response from the distributors. It started with Puneet Rajkumar's movie Jackie and extended to Sudeep's Veera Parampare, Upendra's Super, Shivaraj Kumar's Mylari, Vijay's Kanteerava, and Sudeep's Kempe Gowda. The latest movie to get the big response from distributors is Challenging star Darshan's film Prince.
Darshan's latest movie Prince, which was delayed for long time due to some reason, is releasing on 31st of March. The distribution rights of all the areas for the film have already been sold out for a huge price. Producer Sandesh Nagaraj, who had big loss from the films Veerabahu and Huduga Hudugi, is now all happy because Prince has returned him its expense with a little amount of profit even before its release.
According to sources, there was tough competition among the distributors to by the rights of different areas, which have been sold out like hot cake. Gandhi Nagar pandits opine that the reasons behind this competition are most of the final examinations are getting over and Holiday season is starting. Meanwhile, the World Cup 2011 matches are getting concluded on 2nd April.
Sources claim that the distribution rights of movie Prince for the area Mysore, Mandya, Kodagu, Chamarajanagar and Hassan has been sold for Rs. one crore, while the Northern Karnataka area has fetched Rs. 90 lacs. Other distribution areas have also earned a big prices for Sandesh Nagaraj. The movie has reportedly earned more than Rs. six crores from all the rights including satellite rights.
However, Prince is an action-cum-romantic movie. Darshan is playing the hero, while actresses Nikitha Thukral and Jennifer Kotwal appear as his love interests. Popular musician V Harikrishna has composed music for the film. The movie has brought a smile on its producer's face. Now, it should be seen whether it will also make the distributors happy or not.
