Kasaravalli
has
been
conferred
with
the

Shri
award,
which
is
the
fourth
highest
civilian

after

Ratna,
Padma
Bhushan
and
Padma
Vibhushan
in
India.
Though
the
Sandalwood
filmmaker
is
all
excited
to
receive
the
honour,
the
absence
of
his
wife
Vaishali
Kasaravalli,
who
died
of
kidney-related
problems
three
months
ago,
has
upset
him
very
much.
Girish
Kasaravalli
is
being
honoured
with
Padma
Shri
for
his
dedicated
service
to
the
Kannada
film
industry.
But
he
is
sad
because
his
wife
was
very
much
confident
that
he
would
win
a
Padma
award
one
day.
Though
that
day
has
come
now,
unfortunately,
she
is
not
there
to
share
the
joy
with
him
on
this
special
occasion.
Talking
to
the
media,
the
director
said,
"I
really
miss
her
today."
The
50-year-old
art
film
director
has
nearly
15
movies
to
his
credit.
Girish
is
one
of
the
pioneers
of
the
parallel
cinema
in
Sandalwood.
He
has
already
won
several
State
and
National
level
recognition
for
his
wonderful
service
to
the
industry.
He
has
been
honoured
with
four
National
awards
for
his
films
like
Ghatashraddha
(1977),
Tabarana
Kathe
(1986),
Thaayi
Saheba
(1997)
and
Dweepa
(2001).
However,
the
President
of
India
has
announced
128
Padma
Awards
for
the
year
2010
including
12
in
the
category
of
Foreigners/

PIOs/
Posthumous
on
Tuesday.
These
