Director
Hiriyur
Raghavendra,
who
is
directing
Kannada
TV
serial
'Karthika
Deepa",
attempted
to
commit
suicide
in
front
of
the
media
at
3
pm
on
Saturday.
He
held
the
artistes
pressure
for
payment
responsible
for
it.
However,
he
was
immediately
rushed
to
the
nearby
hospital
by
the
PROs
and
the
media
men.
Raghavendra
had
held
a
press
conference
at
Green
House
Raj
Milan
on
Saturday.
The
serial
director
was
explaining
the
reason
for
the
failure
of
his
TV
serials
when
he
collapsed.
He
had
carried
a
death
note
that
stated
non-cooperation
of
serial
artistes
was
the
reason
for
his
suicide.
According
to
sources,
Raghavendra
was
suffering
a
huge
financial
loss
of
Rs.
50
lakhs
from
the
200-episode
serial
'Karthika
Deepa".
So
the
artistes
and
technicians
were
reportedly
pressurising
him
for
payment.
Upset
with
this
pressure,
he
decided
to
commit
suicide
by
eating
poison.
But
Raghavendra's
wife
Sudha
has
denied
all
his
allegations.
She
says
that
all
the
artists
in
the
serial
'Karthika
Deepa"
have
co-operated
well.
But
they
were
not
paid
properly
due
to
the
loss.
They
are
not
responsible
for
his
suicide.
Meanwhile,
she
requests
the
artistes
to
bear
with
the
situation
and
support
her
husband
Raghavendra.
However,
the
doctors
at
the
Mallige
Hospital
say
that
Raghavendra's
health
condition
is
stable.
Meanwhile,
no
case
has
been
registered
against
him.
The
Upparpet
police
claim
that
the
director
did
not
attempt
suicide,
but
collapsed
due
to
health
problems.
